Shows are held by the Midland, Southern and Northern Hamster Club in accordance with the rules and regulations of The National Hamster Council.

Syrian hamsters are marked against a Standard, with a possible total of 100 points, as follows:
Colour and Markings - 30 Points
Type - 25 Points
Fur - 20 Points
Size - 10 Points
Condition - 10 Points
Eyes and Ears - 5 Points

I really enjoy hamster shows. It is a bonus if one of my hamsters wins a card or a class, it's really about meeting up with friends and people who love hamsters as much as I do. It is also a great place to learn more about hamster care and breeding.
I will be attending most of the Midland shows this year and as many of the Southern as I am able to.
Hamsters are shown in a small show pen as in the photo below. These pens are quite small but the hamster only stays in them for a few hours and as they are nocturnal, they usually sleep their way through shows. They are provided with a dog biscuit and piece of vegetable.

Wyeside's Darlin': Reserve Best in Show - Monmouth 2010
Darlin' was bred here at Wyeside (she is Mae's grand-daughter). She has only been shown twice and on her second time out won Reserve Best in Show at Monmouth 2010.
Alphabet's Mae: Best in Show Monmouth 2009 & Bath 2009
Mae was bred by Alphabet Hamsters.
She won Best in Show at Monmouth 2009 and Bath 2009.
She was only shown 8 times, she was 4th once and 2nd once and won her class on the other 6 occasions, going on to win BIS at the 2 shows mentioned above.
Sadly Mae is no longer with us but she lives on in many of my pedigrees.
